New Page Type Templates (2024-25)/Topics

From Salish Sea Wiki

This page provides all materials for development of the Topic Template and migration of existing Topics.

Assumptions

  • Topics are define primarily by the Topic and Effort taxonomies (Category:Topic)
  • Association with Workgroup, Jurisdiction
  • Topics are associated with place when a topic is being summarized relative to a particular location, and scale is thus invoked through attributes of places... however place pages are attributed with scale, not place categories... so to do this in cargo, a place-scale relationship will need to be developed. Topics are associated with workgroups and jurisdictions in a similar way, when the domain of a topics is being constrained to a particular context for a particular purpose... essentially a sub-topic is created by adding a new category.
  • The appropriate combination is unpredictable, and depends on topics that emerge... for example there could be a page on "Federal Flood Management Funding" or a page on "River Delta Restoration in Whidbey Basin"... these topics each invoke a set of categories.

Fields & Migration Instructions

There are 266 Standard Pages, and 21 Architecture or Content Pages. The only pages that use the Topic Category that are not in the template are the two sub-categories.
