  • Around 250 species of bumblebee world wide.
  • A number of species are being reviewed for Endangered Species Act
  • Solitary queen overwinters and founds a colony in spring, building a population, ending with release of a new generation of queens.
  • Decline is synergistic impact of multiple stressors including: disease, pesticide, habitat alteration, small population dynamics.
  • Diverse and abundant floral resources, overwintering sites.
  • Nationwide ESA Section 10, Conservation Benefit Agreement.
    • Restoring native floral resources, reduce herbicide bee conflicts.
  • Bombus franklini - the one listed species. Voluntary conservation measures are proposed.
