Style Guide Warnings

From Salish Sea Wiki

We use a set of flags to encourage conformity with the style guide. If someone has placed a warning on a page you care about, this means they are asking you to improve it so that it is more consistent with our Style Guide and thus our Social Contract

Style Guide Warning Templates

If you are viewing pages, and you notice that a page doesn't adhere to the style guide, then flag it with a template, which is a piece of text inserted at the end of the page. Style Templates are how we indicate where work is needed to make the platform better.

  • {{Placeholder}} - Template:Placeholder indicates that that the page was quickly created and that it lacks robust structure and content, and that someone should please make it better.
  • {{Reduce Text}} - Template:Reduce Text indicates that a page has too much prose, could be reduced to bullets, and lacks links or clear statements of evidence.
  • {{Conform}} - Template:Conform indicates that the page deviates from the style guide in that it doesn't organize information in a predictable way. Usually this is a call for bullets and predictable sections.
  • {{Blurb}} - Template:Blurb indicates more specifically that the page needs to start with a good blurb that provides journalistic information and links: who, what, where, when, why, how, and links to related pages.
