South Spencer Island in the Snohomish Estuary. The south side of the island was breached in 1994, and was the subject of long term monitoring and a peer-reviewed publications. The north portion of the island was managed for waterfowl habitat, until a persistent fire prompted WDFW to breach the dikes and flood the site.
