Snohomish Conservation District is a political sub-division of state government that has been working with farmers and landowners since 1941. District boundaries include Camano Island (added in 1961) and most of Snohomish County.

Snohomish Conservation District’s mission is to work cooperatively with others to promote and encourage conservation and responsible use of natural resources.

Governance

The Conservation District is led by a Board of five supervisors, three elected and two appointed by the Washington Conservation Commission. All board members serve three-year terms, are required to be a registered voter, and must own or occupy land within the Conservation District boundary. That includes most of Snohomish County and Camano Island. A conservation district supervisor is a public official who serves without compensation and who sets policy and direction for the conservation district. Board members meet monthly, attend trainings, and participate in statewide functions.
