The City of Tumwater is just south of City of Olympia and southwest of City of Lacey, and is located in Thurston County. It straddles the lowest reach of the Deschutes Watershed where it becomes part of the Deschutes Estuary. It is the usual and accustomed area of the Nisqually Indian Tribe, the Chehalis Tribe, and particularly the Squaxin Island Tribe.

  • .City of Tumwater owns Pioneer Park, and the Tumwater Valley golf course, which contain reaches of the Deschutes River.
