The City of Tumwater is a Municipality in Thurston County and South Puget Sound responsible for the lowest reach of the Deschutes Watershed. The City is part of a three city urban area including the City of Olympia and the City of Lacey. Together with Thurston County they operate the LOTT Clean Water Alliance and a Thurston County Stream Team.

Notes

  • Like most municipalities, Tumwater has a full suite of municipal authorities.
  • The City of Tumwater is a non-charter Code City which utilizes a Mayor-Council form of government. Seven Councilmembers act as policy makers, providing the Mayor (the City's separately-elected chief executive officer) with guidelines and performance objectives.

  • 2024 - The mayor is using administrative powers to cut down the Meeker-Davis Oak.
