Programs other than NRCS and USFS
- Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE) - SARE funds activities to advance sustainable or regenerative agriculture such as agroforestry
- Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) - provides Beaver Damage Management services. APHIS was recently sued by advocates in Oregon, to force consideration about how ongoing beaver trapping affects coastal coho salmon listed under the Endangered Species Act
- Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) - CREP is administered by the Farm Service Administration, and provides 10 or 15 year leases to landowners to grow native forest. NRCS provides assistance to the Farm Service Administration to implement.
- Reforestation, Nurseries and Genetic Resources (RNGR) program - supply people who grow forest and conservation seedlings with the very latest technical information, and to provide links to other organizations and individuals with similar interests.
US Forest Service
NRCS
NRCS helps America’s farmers, ranchers and forest landowners conserve the nation’s soil, water, air and other natural resources. All programs are voluntary and offer science-based solutions that benefit both the landowner and the environment.

Programs
- WA State EQIP 2013 - EQIP is the largest subsidy program, and provides cost-share on a wide range of conservation practices, from building construction to fish passage.
- Conservation Innovation Grants
State Management System
- The State Conservationist - The NRCs allocates significant authority to a state office, that develops state-wide initiatives and sets policy.
- The STAC (State Technical Advisory Committee) - The state technical advisory committee is the vehicle by which state agencies, local representatives of federal agencies, and other policy stakeholders participate most directly in policy development.
- LWGs (Local Working Groups) - Local working groups are largely County Conservation Districts organized at a multi-county scale to define the practices and maximum costs necessary to implement NRCS programs.
- Western National Technical Support Center - Provides technical expertise to the state where the state has needs. National Support Centers, have become less prominent over time as NRCS has shifted from a technical assistance to a subsidy distribution system..
