Immediately to the West of the Salish Sea, the Outer Coast captures the initial wave of moisture coming off the ocean, and has true rainforest conditions. This bioregion has a much higher prevalence of Spruce along coastal areas. It can be generally divided into three regions: Chehalis Basin including Greys Harbor which is the largest watershed and penetrates deeply through the Chehalis Gap and drains the Cascade foothills, The Olympic Rainforest Valleys north including famous rivers like the Hoh River and the Quinault River, and the Willapa Bay Basin surounding Willapa Bay and draining these sparsely populated coastal hills, largely in private Forestry.
