In compliance with the Stafford Act, Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, and 44 CFRCode of Federal Regulation, published in the Federal Register Notice by executive agencies to implement law (sometimes called Administrative Law) 201, Snohomish County and Planning Partners maintain a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The plan was last updated in September 2015. The HMP identifies resources, information and strategies for reducing risk from natural hazards. The plan guides and coordinates mitigation activities throughout Snohomish County.

  • Hazard mitigation plans provide a basis for obtaining FEMA funding.
  • County hazard mitigation plans are referenced in the State Hazard Mitigation Plan by EMD that defines best practices and guides FEMA programs.
