Citation[edit]

Grossman, E.E., George, D.A., and Lam, Angela, 2011. Shallow stratigraphy of the Skagit River Delta, Washington, derived from sediment cores: U.S. Geological Survey Open File Report 2011-1194, 123 p., available at http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2011/1194/.

Analysis[edit]

  • Describes changes in sediment character in Skagit Bay at the South Fork, including increased deposition of sand and progradation of the delta since settlement, suggesting that current flood flows transport sand bedload into the bay, and that this is different than historical processes which created a laminated mud environment.
