The Deschutes River Preserve describes a reach scale conservation site on the Lower Deschutes River, mostly owned by Oly Ecosystems but with adjacent holdings by Capitol Land Trust and private parties. It includes abundant Wetlands shaped by Post-Glacial Geology and Geomorphology, and was once known as the Elwanger Farm. Historical channels draining the wetlands and river overflow are known as Elwanger Creek. Coho Salmon use the site. It is within the U&A of the Squaxin Island Tribe.

- Thurston County has considered this site as part of proposals to the Stream Flow Restoration Program
- Thurston Conservation District is supporting Oly Ecosytsems with revegetation.
- South Sound Salmon Enhancement Group has evaluated this site for coho habitat enhancement.
- The site includes a wide diversity of upland forests, ponds, wetlands, riparian forests.
- The site is a priority for expansion of efforts under the Ecosystem Guild initiative.
