- Authors speculate that in addition to light, nutrient availability, physical disturbances such as dredging operations, burial events or erosive currents, and the effects of space competition with macroalgae (e.g., Ulva spp., Enteromorpha spp., Gracilaria spp.) or other seagrasses (e.g., Zostera japonica) may affect distribution and shoot density.
