Puget Sound Estuary Stream Mouth Tial Sizing Restoration tidal statistics Coastal Wave Exposure Streamflow

Our study will improve the characterization of Puget Sound open coastal inlets and stream mouths throughout Puget Sound by developing a set or sets of regressions and form factors that relate external physical parameters to estuary shape (i.e., width and depth along the estuary axis). We expect that location or region within Puget Sound may also be a strong predictor, because it encompasses several physical factors that are likely to influence dimensions, and therefore, we expect the regressions to be separated by location. We anticipate that location and region of the estuary will have the strongest correlation with estuary width and depth along the estuary longitudinal axis (i.e., from estuary outlet to head-of-tide).
