The Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation is a sovereign, federally recognized tribe located in southwest Washington State, with its headquarters in Oakville, WA. The Tribe’s government oversees a broad range of services and enterprises, including health, education, economic development, and cultural preservation. The Chehalis Tribe Workgroup is a collaborative effort housed within the tribal government, focused on advancing community wellness, workforce development, and sovereignty-driven policy innovation.

  • The Chehalis Tribe’s workforce spans across healthcare, hospitality, natural resources, tribal law enforcement, and education, employing tribal and non-tribal members alike. Key employment hubs include the Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel, Heritage Distilling Company, Talking Cedar Brewery, and various tribal administrative departments.

  • 1855 – Chehalis sign treaties but do not cede land; reservation established later by Executive Order.
  • 1939 – Chehalis Indian Tribal Government formally organized under the Indian Reorganization Act.

  • 2015 – Opening of Talking Cedar Brewery (first tribal-owned distillery in the U.S.).
