This statement would benefit from a citation that documents evidence that the statement is true.
In topic pages we like to cite sources of evidence that support statements. This practice is part of our social contract which embraces the norms of the scientific method. Statements should be carefully constructed so that they accurately reflect the citation, and statements supported by evidence, and speculation without evidence should be separated.
We use in-line citations that point to a document page. Our introduction to documents provides a more detailed view of how documents can be uploaded or linked in the wiki, and how we use links to cite documents.
If you find a statement that you think should be supported by evidence, please feel free to make a comment in the discussion page, or just put a block of text ([[cite]]) following the scentence to indicate that "this statement likely deserves some kind of citation".
