Beamer, E. 2014. Juvenile Chinook response to Nisqually Estuary Restoration: comments on recent paper by David et al. (2014). Memo dated October 31, 2014, to Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Olympia, WA from Eric Beamer, Skagit River Systems Cooperative, La Conner, WA.
Notes
- Describes a secondary analysis of data published by David et al 2014 describing salmon use of Red Salmon Slough Restoration and Nisqually Refuge Restoration at the Nisqually Delta.
- Suggests that differences in salmon density observed among restoration and reference sites may be caused by the relative connectivity of the sites.
- Findings affect our understanding of Delta utilization by salmon, and are informed by the efforts for Evaluating salmon rearing limitations in river deltas.
- Indicates the importance of considering connectivity in developing Fish sampling design in river deltas.
