A Natural Resource Damage Assessment is a procedure authorized in the USA under CRCLA or OPA that involves whereby Federal, State and Tribal natural resource trustees identifies and quantifies an injury to natural resources by an oil spill or unpermitted chemical contamination, and then through negotiation or legal action, works with responsible parties to make the public whole through restorative actions.
